Premium Beauty News - How would you describe your company’s contribution to the beauty industry?
Fiabila - As a nail polish manufacturing specialist for 40 years, Fiabila made safe products long before regulatory constraints – which vary from one country to another – while considerably enhancing performance. From a global standpoint, without taking into account any particular technology, our products are easier to apply, dry faster, remain shinier over a longer period of time, and provide a long-lasting result. We have made qualitative products available to as many people possible around the world, while setting out rules that everyone endeavours to follow today.
The search for purer and purer ingredients led us to contribute to developing natural raw materials in our formulas, based on concentrations up to 70%, in accordance with regulations, in addition to preserving product performance. We increasingly use these biosourced raw materials and also certify our philosophically correct, animal-derivative-free formulas.
Lastly, since colour remains essential to the buying decision, we have also ensured constant creativity in terms of shades and effects.
Premium Beauty News - What are the main transformations affecting your business today?
Fiabila - In terms of structure, distribution players look for low-cost products, which results in reduced market value. In addition, brands’ concentration leads to more important volumes and the need to produce better and cheaper, which requires more and more costly production tools.
We anticipated this phenomenon when we extended our production site in Maintenon, in France, where we produce 15-tonne batches. And to supply the niche brands born from this concentration, we are now equipped with a production tool for one-tonne batches.
What’s more, users are better-informed today, but they are not necessarily able to assess the validity of warnings about ingredients.
Premium Beauty News - What is your vision of beauty in 10 years? What will be your contribution to this beauty of the future?
Fiabila - Consumers’ interest will be renewed, not with colours, but with innovative formulas under development. Within the next two years, the structure of nail polish will certainly be much different.
The development of the “tailor-made” trend, this very personal, targeted approach to beauty products, will get faster.
E-commerce will gradually result in the arrival of new customers. Some of our traditional customers will demand more individual and protective packaging.
Ultimately, in the future, brands’ concentration is likely to grow even more significant in all geographical regions, involving either modernization or the disappearance of local brands.
Fiabila already contributes to this future.
As regards formulas, we have been working to replace ingredients deemed essential to formulation. Our formulas are cleaner and cleaner, or aqueous thanks to technical advances gradually emerging. We have been enhancing the development of techniques that react to UV rays, without any monomers: their ban in nail polish is soon to be expected. Innovation also concerns efficient and protective skincare products that will increasingly be available as colour treatments.
As for packaging, we are heading towards a different approach to gesture, for example with nail polish application pens in industrial forms.
