Beiersdorf’s Test Center used a body scanner to prove that 28 test subjects - women between the ages of 24 and 44 years - lost up to 3 cm in the areas examined following twice daily use of Nivea “My Silhouette!”. Initial results could be measured within four weeks.
According to Beiersdorf, one of the main active ingredients in Nivea “My Silhouette!“ is white tea, which reduces the accumulation of fat molecules in the subcutaneous fat layer and helps prevent them growing back. In addition, Beiersdorf claims that the anise extract used activates cell metabolism and stimulates the collagen-forming cells in the dermis – a key point in ensuring firm, welltoned connective tissue.
“The body scanner has a number of advantages over other technologies, especially in the field of cosmetics,” commented Sören Jaspers, Head of Biophysics Skin Care at Beiersdorf. “It is less time-consuming than manual measuring methods, non-invasive, ‘hands off’, and more precise.”
The laser-based body scanner uses triangulation, which allows the entire body to be scanned within only twelve seconds: The body scanner can register even slight deflections of the light beams. A special integrated computer program generates the silhouette, creating a three-dimensional, high-resolution computer model of the entire body with millimetre precision.
